Every mind can grow. Every learner can thrive.

If school feels like a battle, it isn’t because your child isn’t trying. Most help aims at the assignment. We teach the learner how to learn, in the language they’re most themselves in.

What we hear most

Most families arrive saying something like this

Choose the one that sounds most like home.

  1. Focus & attention
  2. Memory
  3. Learning processes
  4. Reading & writing
  5. Social interaction
  6. Organization
  7. Executive skills

We work on the foundations underneath the grades

Long homework is rarely about effort. Staying on task, holding the steps in mind and getting started each cost time.

In a parent’s words

The best part is that he enjoys the sessions.

Mother of a student in Feuerstein mediation

What changed, in her words

  • Focus
  • Handwriting
  • Reads for longer
  • New vocabulary
My son has improved in his focus, his concentration, and handwriting since starting FIE mediation. I have found him reading for longer stretches and less need to play video games. He has developed vocabulary that helps him communicate what he is learning. That has also helped me as a parent to use the same vocabulary with him in between sessions. When before it was not easy to identify the issue and was frustrating for both of us. The best part is that he enjoys the sessions because Nereida has developed great rapport with him even though it’s online.

How we help

Three ways in, one idea behind them

Intelligence isn’t fixed. Every program here is built on that.

  1. “My child struggles with focus, learning or problem-solving.”

    Thinking skills, built deliberately

    Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment

A structured, research-based program that strengthens the thinking skills every subject depends on, through guided dialogue with a certified mediator.

    • Sharper focus and attention
    • More systematic problem-solving
    • Thinking skills that carry into every subject
  2. “We want stronger reading and writing, in both languages.”

    Literacy in two languages

    Bilingual reading & writing

Reading and writing in English and Spanish, where what a learner builds in one language carries into the other.

    • Stronger reading comprehension
    • Clearer, more confident writing
    • Skills that transfer between languages
  3. “We need something shaped entirely around our situation.”

    Built around one learner

    Mediated learning sessions

One-on-one sessions shaped around a single learner’s goals, strengths and circumstances, for children, teens and adults.

    • A plan built on their strengths
    • Specific, agreed goals
    • Regular updates for the family

Who you’ll work with

Every session is with Nereida herself

“A diagnosis doesn’t have the last word. Every mind can grow.”

29 years in Texas public schools showed her where learners get stuck: as a bilingual teacher, an assistant principal, a librarian and a literacy coach. Now she brings all of it to one learner at a time.

  1. Teacher
  2. Asst. principal
  3. Librarian
  4. Coach
  5. Mediator
Her story

Why families choose us

Tutoring gets tonight’s homework done. We change why it was hard.

Most help for a struggling learner re-teaches the lesson they missed. That can carry them to the next test and leave the reason they struggled in place. We work on the reason.

What it works on

Typical tutoring: The assignment in front of them.

The thinking behind every assignment: attention, memory, planning, checking their own work.

Who teaches

Typical tutoring: A tutor who knows the subject.

Nereida herself, every session: 29 years in schools, certified in the Feuerstein method.

Language

Typical tutoring: Usually English only.

English, Spanish or both, for your learner and for you.

How you know it’s working

Typical tutoring: The next grade.

Goals you agree on before we start, and a short note after every session.

When it’s done

Typical tutoring: When the test is over, until the next one.

When your learner can do it without us. That is the goal from the first session.

How it works

Three steps, at your own pace

  1. A free 30-minute consultation

A video call on Zoom about what’s been happening at school, at home and at homework time. We listen first, and if we’re not the right fit, we’ll say so honestly.

  2. A plan built for your learner

We map which cognitive areas are involved and propose a specific approach, a session rhythm and what progress should look like. You see the plan before anything starts.

  3. Sessions begin

One-on-one hour-long sessions, in English or Spanish, in person near Rice Village or on Zoom from anywhere. You get regular updates on what’s changing, and the plan adjusts as your learner grows.

Questions parents ask

How is this different from tutoring?

Tutoring re-teaches subject content. We work on the thinking underneath it: attention, memory, planning, comparison. The gains carry into every subject, not just the one we practiced.

What ages do you work with?

From age 3 to 90+. Feuerstein’s methods work across the lifespan, and adults often progress quickly because they bring motivation and self-awareness to the work.

Do we need a diagnosis?

No. We work with learners regardless of diagnosis, and many families find this complements the therapies they already have in place.

How long before we see a change?

Many families notice small shifts within a few weeks: more focus during homework, more patience with frustration. Deeper change usually develops over three to six months of consistent work.

Can sessions be in Spanish?

Yes. Entirely in Spanish, entirely in English, or moving between the two.

Are sessions online or in person?

Both. In person, sessions take place in a quiet, private office near Rice Village, in Houston. Online, we meet on Zoom, so families anywhere can work with us, and the approach is the same. We’ll help you choose in the free consultation.

How much do sessions cost?

$95 in person and $80 on Zoom, for one hour, one-on-one. The first 30-minute consultation is free, and there are no registration fees and no long-term contract.
